for a night at Rydges on Swanston thanks to Rydges on Swanston.
Another of the business focused sessions at this year’s AIFP Conference is “Building Better Business” with The Marketing Mentor, William Siebler. As well as sharing his journey he’ll talk about ways to build your business from marketing strategies through to relationship building and business development.
William describes himself as a bit of a marketing nerd having been interested in marketing since his mid-teens. A family history in small business meant he was always likely to head down this path.
His passion for marketing began when attending a marketing seminar featuring former Qantas CEO James Strong. William went on to study marketing at RMIT and it was there his lifelong interest in marketing really took off.
After a number of years in the corporate environment at Kodak and Telstra it was obvious that in order to really work with people to grow their business it had to be with real business owners, not corporate managers. So in April 2003 he started his own marketing consulting business.
William has worked across all areas of marketing but in recent years has focused on helping businesses with their overall growth and marketing strategy. He also helps a number of clients with their digital marketing and is really keen on the paid advertising programs offered through Google and Facebook.
His greatest skill is asking the right questions to help a business get crystal clear on what they need to do and even more importantly what they don’t need to do.
A colleague once described him as a ‘Human Profit Detector’ because he can look at any business and find untapped growth opportunities in as little as 30 minutes.
He loves sharing what he does with other businesses and is on a mission to help eradicate bad marketing from the world. He knows that might take a while!
